Water Collection

Once the source water passes through the membrane in the purification stage, it is collected for future use. A spacer between the membranes collects the purified water, and the pressure forces the pure water to exit the unit. After passing through the unit, it can be collected and stored or used immediately for its intended purpose. Alternatively, the water can be run through the RO unit once again, if further purification is desired or necessary. However, after each trip through the process, the water will be more pure and therefore require more pressure and time to be purified. There will be diminishing returns from the inefficiency of multiple trips through the unit, therefore it is advisable to evaluate whether or not multiple purification trips are necessary to reap the benefits of the purified water.

The wastewater from the RO Unit is disposed of directly to the drainage system. There are no dangerous contaminants created during the process and the water is safe to return to the ground. Alternatively, wastewater can be recycled or evaporated if the user of the unit deems necessary or ideal.

I ran across some small VoIP and video conferencing programs but most of them did not work right or were too hard to install. Then one day I stumbled across the Asterisk PBX. Asterisk is a full all out open source PBX which runs on the Linux Platform. . I have read so much about Asterisk and was ready to install it. I formatted a hard and loaded Red hat Linux onto the hard drive and then installed Asterisk.

The first thing that I noticed about Asterisk is that is was very hard to basically understand and knowing where to start. Thank God there is a version of Asterisk out there that comes with a GUI called TRIXBOX. Trixbox is basically Asterisk ready to use out of the box. Trixbox makes it easy to setup extensions, voicemail boxes, call conferencing and much more. Trixbox is a good way to learn Linux and Asterisk in general being that there are still times that you must enter the Linux CLI and edit text files for Asterisk.

I myself enjoy using Asterisk without the GUI. Trixbox is a very good resource to learn asterisk basically because it allows you to still edit the text files and use the web GUI at the time. The reason that I prefer to use Asterisk without the GUI is because it is much more flexible and customizable. The GUI basically locks asterisk down if you make major changes it will break the configuration and Asterisk will have to be re-installed

At My office I run Asterisk with a VoIP provider called Voice pulse. Voice pulse is a provider like Vonage except they can provide you with multiple DID’s and as many channels as you need. The basic plan will stat at 4 channels but you can add additional channels for $10 a month. . Each channel is equivalent to a second line. So if you have four channels then you can have four simultaneous calls.

This article explores the ways in which GPS Tracking technology is being used in conjunction of an application called the Mobile Tactical Collaboration System. It 's and example of the Mobile Command Post of the Future to effectively help coordinate missions to thwart another major terrorist attack.

First we preset details of an exercise performed during the Southwestern Pennsylvania Operation Steel Hammer; a harbor security counterterrorism exercise in the City of Pittsburgh.

A multi-jurisdictional and multidisciplinary task force was mobilized which included Pittsburgh River Rescue Unit, Explosive Ordinance Disposal (EOD), Pittsburgh Police Special Deployment Division (aka SWAT), Pittsburgh Fire Bureau, EMS Divers, Pennsylvania State Police SERT, Intelligence Unit, and Office of Emergency Management, to identify, assess, interdict, board the Liberty Belle and neutralize the threat.

Thus began the Pittsburgh portion of Operation Steel Hammer, a 13-county Southwestern Pennsylvania regional (Region 13) counterterrorism exercise under the auspices of the US Department of Homeland Security.

Following the exercise, the quotes from Steel Hammer participants about the benefits they gained from using MTCS and AdvanTraq GPS were punctuated by 'awesome'. They included: MTCS workspaces and common operating picture enabled operators to communicate, collaborate, and coordinate visually, effectively, and in real time.

You do not need to buy a PDA if you already own an iPod. Simply use your iPod as a PDA. Your iPod can do more than just play music. Your iPod already has the capability of storing such things as your contacts, calendar information, and your notes. Although the iPod is not in the running for PDA of the Year, it can serve as a ready backup for contact and calendar info while you are traveling or if your normal one is broken.

If you have never tried using your iPod as a PDA, you should probably go check out your iPods Extra menu. This Extra menu is where you will find your iPods Clock, Contacts, Calendar, Notes, and of course Games. Besides storing your latest music files, your iPod is able to store phone numbers, addresses, web site URLs, and other important information that you may need, up to 1,000 contacts! If you wish to export this information about your contacts, you can do so via vCard format from Microsoft Outlook, Outlook Express, Palm Desktop, or any email applications that support the vCard.

To start inputting your contact information into your iPod, go to the Extra menu and choose the Contacts options. If you currently do not have any contacts, your iPod will give you instructions on how to do so. If you are going to import your contacts information, your Windows XP needs to recognize your iPod as hard drive before it can start exporting to your iPod.

I'd recommend always recording the original video first to a dvd or some other permanent storage medium, and then upload the video from the dvd disc to a computer for editing. Once you're done editing, use another DVD disc and burn it with your edited version. This way you always have the original handy and you can put it and the edited version in a safe place for the future when you're an old fart like me and want to cry watching your little kids playing in the backyard.

Mozilla Firefox 2 (formerly known as Bon Echo) builds on the strength and the security demonstrated in Firefox 1.5 by adding several new features. Like Internet Explorer 7, Firefox 2 includes built-in antiphishing, but overall, Firefox 2 is much better than Microsoft Internet Explorer 7. Firefox 2 offers forward-looking features, such as Live Titles, as well as practical here-and-now tools, such as search engine suggestions, session restore, and inline spell-checking. Despite its many improvements, Firefox 2, like Internet Explorer 7, still does not pass the Acid2 Web Standards test, although, unlike Microsoft, Mozilla says it is working toward full compliance. Given its many pros and relatively few cons, Firefox 2 receives our Editors' Choice award for best Internet browser. For a look inside, see our Firefox 2 slide show.

You can download Firefox 2 for free, and unlike Internet Explorer 7, Firefox is available on a variety of operating systems: Windows, Mac, and Linux. There are also a wide variety of localized language versions, including Basque and Byelorussian. Again unlike IE 7, Firefox 2 does not require that you shut down antivirus protection nor does it perform a system reboot.

Unlike IE 7, which has reorganized its toolbar, Firefox 2 changes only the look and feel of its buttons. Tabs have long been a part of Firefox. Now, with Firefox 2, you can open any number of tabs, rearrange them, and reopen a previously closed tab using the hot keys Ctrl-Shift-T. With another feature carried over from Firefox 1.5, you can also save active tabs as a bookmark so that you can open the entire set of tabs at a later time. Missing, however, are thumbnail previews of each tab (still available only as an extension).

At the far right of the Firefox toolbar is the search engine box. Firefox 2 now includes suggested search terms from the search engine itself; for instance type fire and Google returns Firefox among other suggestions. Firefox 2 provides several built-in search engines, such as Amazon and eBay--far more than provided by IE 7--with the option to add even more search engines.

Should you decide to remove Firefox, you'll be disappointed. Despite the speed we witnessed upon instigating uninstall, the uninstall feature left behind several folders and far too many registry entries. Thus, if you want to clean out your Firefox completely or you attempt to load Firefox 2 as a clean browser, you'll be stuck with your previous bookmarks and preferences, including extensions, intact.

New in Firefox 2 is session restore; if Windows crashes and you have several tabs open in Firefox at the time, you can now relaunch Firefox with all the tabs intact. We found this feature to be very useful during the course of our tests.

Firefox 2 also gives you the ability to correct your spelling mistakes online, just like using a word processor. This is great for typing blogs or posting to a newsgroup. Common dictionary words are checked, with misspellings identified with a squiggly red line. You can add more words and even include dictionaries available in various languages. Once you have access to inline spell-checking, you won't want to surf the Web without it.

Possibly the coolest new feature is Live Titles, formerly Microsummaries, which allows Web sites to stream updated data to your bookmarks. You can add the Live Titles functionality to the Merriam-Webster dictionary site, for example, and once you have done so, when you bookmark a page, you can choose the Live Title option to display the word of the day in your bookmark. When you drop down the bookmark menu or open the bookmark side panel, you'll see the Merriam-Webster logo followed by the word of the day. For news sites such as the BBC's, you'll see the latest headline. Think of Live Titles as RSS-like feeds for your otherwise static bookmarks.

Unfortunately extensions designed for Firefox 1.5 will probably break within Firefox 2. When you install Firefox 2, a handy wizard checks to see if there are new versions of already installed 1.5 extensions available; in our case, some but not all of our favorites had not been optimized for 2.0, but then again, we were testing ahead of public release. In general, the Firefox add-on community is much more robust than that of Internet Explorer.

Security enhancements within Firefox 2 continue. New is a dialog box informing you of cross-domain scripting, a tactic used by criminal hackers to link nonrelated sites to sites you think may be legit. And Mozilla remains very responsive to fixing its vulnerabilities, pushing out updates within a few days of public notice. Microsoft, on the other hand, parses out its vulnerability fixes a little at a time. In the five years since its release, IE 6 has accrued a large deficit, and we see no sign that Microsoft is addressing new vulnerabilities found in IE 7 any faster.

The underlying Web rendering engine within Firefox 2 is Gecko 1.8, and it is largely unchanged from the previous release, Firefox 1.5. The next release of Firefox should include a new rendering engine.

Unfortunately, Firefox 2 does not fully support all the standards supported by the W3C organization, so it fails what is called the Acid2 test, a test designed by the Web Standards Project, although Mozilla is working hard toward full compliance. For comparison, of the browsers tested by CNET, only Opera 9 passed the test; IE 7 fared the worst, unable to render the page in the correct colors or shapes.

Antiphishing technology within Firefox 2 is good, and the technology has steadily improved throughout the various betas we've seen. We tested Firefox 2 on a fraudulent Bank of America site less than one hour old; the program caught the page immediately. For comparison, IE 7 also flagged the same fraudulent banking site. Most phishing sites are removed after their initial 72 hours of existence. In general, we have found that stand-alone antiphishing filters, such as Netcraft's, perform far better at flagging brand-new phishing sites than antiphishing filters bundled with Internet browsers.

There are many enhancements within Firefox 2, making it a worthy upgrade for existing users and a fine introduction for new users. Firefox is truly innovative, yet it's also very practical for everyday use.

You can go trough each service and read the description, all are self explanatory, you don't need much knowledge to understand what each means, but i will give you a list with some Services that you can disable without any problems.

1. Alerter
Notifies selected users and computers of administrative alerts. If the service is stopped, programs that use administrative alerts will not receive them. If this service is disabled, any services that explicitly depend on it will fail to start.

I don't think it is necessary for a computer to continuously annoy user with alerts.

2. Application Layer Gateway Service
Provides support for 3rd party protocol plug-ins for Internet Connection Sharing and the Internet Connection Firewall

If you want to share your internet connections leave it on, but i don't think you want to share your connection with others, because almost all internet service providers don't want their users to share internet, and companies or big networks which want to share connection use routers which are cheap.

3. Automatic Updates
Enables the download and installation of critical Windows updates. If the service is disabled, the operating system can be manually updated.

How many times you found automatic updates necessary ? Microsoft software will always have problems, when they try to fix something they will make other security holes, if you want to be secure, you should use a firewall.

4. Background Intelligent Transfer Service
Uses idle network bandwidth to transfer data.

This will work well for automatic updates, but are you sure you want that your computer to connect to internet and download stuff that you don't want to ?

Apple Inc. has certainly got the right to create various iPod accessories and odds and ends for the iPod. After all, it is the creator of this phenomenal gadget and it is also the very same company who owns the trademark and the name of this popular product.

The company has just sent out word that it is at present in the inception and development stage of yet another product that would further revolutionize the way that we enjoy our iPods. And this would not be coming in the form of another iPod sibling like the iTrip and FM transmitters. The new gadget would come in the form of a dock connector.

The company even furthermore shares, "When electrical contacts are used, the electrical contacts may be implemented in connectors and/or they may be surface or flush mounted on the housings of the portable electronic device and the docking station. In either case, each device includes a set of corresponding contacts that when in contact allow data and power to be transferred therethrough." This is as per a press release given out by Apple with regards to their new project.

Apple also did further explain that they would be trying out non-contact platforms for the new iPod docking and charging station. These non-contact platforms could include inductive coils. In a statement, they share, "The inductive coils are typically hidden from view behind the housings of each device and therefore they are more aesthetically pleasing than electrical contacts, which need to be exposed in order to operate effectively. Furthermore, inductively based systems are more robust than electrical contacts. For example, there are no contacts to wear out and/or oxidize." Apple also did further mention that for everything to work out just right, both the docking station and the portable electronic device, or the iPod, must use the secondary coil which would act as the non-contact platform.

The company also did say that they have already tried out such a technique to see if it would work and if it was successful, they were also going to check if such a device would be feasible for the market. “In one implementation, both data and power are transferred via the inductance-based system. For example, low frequency electrical current may be passed from the primary coil to the secondary coil in order to power or charge the portable electronic device and high frequency current may be passed from one coil to the other in order to send/receive data," expresses Apple. Additionally, the company points out: "The data and power inductors may be separate, integral or they may be superimposed on one another. In another implementation, power is transferred via an inductance-based system and data is transferred via a wireless system. The combination of inductance and wireless provides an efficient way to transfer both power and data while keeping both the docking station and portable electronic device fully enclosed."
